Alaafia kids are children with parents of different racial identifications, cultures, or countries, or children who have been adopted into families that are different from them in some way. The word “alaafia” (pronounced “a LAH feea”) is African in origin and can be translated as “good” or “peace.”

The Founders of NAME envisioned an organization that would bring together individuals and groups with an interest in multicultural education from all levels of education, different academic disciplines and from diverse educational institutions and occupations.
